Girl’s Night at Home 231

It was girl’s night out in the “Burg”.  The streets of Harrisburg were starting to build up with traffic when I arrived. We were headed for a night out on the town. The air slightly chilly as it was coming into fall. My aunt choose “Home 231”. A quaint restaurant nestled among the cities beauty, known for its contemporary home style cuisine. The restaurant doesn’t have a dress code, but most people wouldn’t just walk in with shorts and a tee shirt on. I on the other hand was totally not dressed to the nines. Nearly nine months pregnant and in flip flops I strolled into the building. The small space left a steamy warmth in the air. When they mentioned the patio. I was all for it. My pregnancy hormones kicked in and I just wanted to cool down. Once outside and seated, I began to look around. The greenery hanging off the lattice work built a room inside the patio. The birds chirping from above set a calming atmosphere. Taking a look at the menu, I realized there were no prices. Curiously searching something that seemed not so pricey, I noticed  numbers at the end of each item. I guess that is how they price expensive items. I don’t really know. I ordered the Pork Chop, Green Beans and a side Greek Salad.  When I think of Greek salads, I picture a plate full of leafy greens with croutons and cheese, topped with an oil and red vinaigrette dressing. What I got was a bowl of vegetables with a vinaigrette dressing. Not even good vegetables either. The only veges that I enjoyed was the onion. It was a beautiful display though. My sister ordered the Hanger Steak Frites piled high with fresh cut French Fries and a side of Pierogies and Roasted Tomato Soup. It all looked very appetizing. My aunt ordered Rainbow Trout with Corn Salsa, a side of Deviled Eggs, and Butternut Squash Soup. When her dish arrived to the table, I was taken back by the whole fish on her plate staring at me with its eye balls still attached. To top the evening off with a sweet kiss. We all ordered and shared a plate of Chocolate Cherry Bread Pudding. Over all I think I probably won’t go back there again. The atmosphere was wonderful but the food just didn’t impress me. See below for photos of our “Chic Eats”.
